So currently SFMOMA has a fun and interesting "conversation piece" exhibition of chairs by contemporary artists. The main idea is that chairs are traditionally servants of function, barely noticable parts of daily routine that support human bodies. SFMOMA's show artists have turned them into objects in their own right, making statements about materials, form, contemporary life and moving beyond the usual considerations of usefulness, style and taste.
Ciwt found the exhibition stimulating and whimsical. When she saw the bench (?) above she even wondered if her new sheepskin chairs might enjoy its 'converstional' company.
