Distance: 3 miles
Ciwt's around the world in 10 days and an armchair is almost done. And so is she. It's tiring to take in movies at this pace; can only imagine what energy/stamina the real thing must require.
WORDS AND PICTURES
Today began with a members-only surprise screening of what turned out to be
Words and Pictures, a delightful, intelligent, engaging rom-com thanks to a good directing,
a solid script and wonderful/believable chemistry between Juliette Binoche and Clive Owen.
The more subtle and artistic film was Club Sandwich from the Mexican writer-director Fernando Eimbcke. He casts a fresh eye on puberty with subtle humor, evocative simplicity, depth and maturity as well as a beautifully controlled visual style that had echoes of David Hockney's swimming pool paintings of the 1960's.
