CIWT has been busy sending President Obama some of her thoughts about the current government situation.
You can do this; I have before and received a response. These responses are the kind of thing I was responsible for when I worked on the Hill for a Congressman, so I know no one pored over my letter and wrote personally. But it was also part of my job to make note of the types of mail we were receiving and the numbers of people who wrote about each topic. I don't remember the letters being read for ideas, but they went first to the Congressman's Office Manager and he may have actually noted thoughts and opinions and reported them to his/our boss.
I don't do it often, (hardly at all) but, when I have, I've found there is much to be said for being able to freely express yourself to the President. I get to actually say what is on my mind and at least feel I'm doing 'something.' And even though the response may be generic, it is still stirring on some level to see it in my inbox with the Presidential seal on the top.
