In today's blog I join with the many people at Ocean Beach and at their computers wherever in the world they are located to celebrate the life of Warren Hellman. From 11-6 pm today several of his many friends from the Bluegrass world are giving a free concert to celebrate him and to say a musical goodbye. The concert is being streamed live into a multitude of computers, including mine. It is San Francisco's and his artist friends' return gift to him.
After today's celebration his legacy will live on for San Franciscans and wide ranging travelers who never met him when they attend - for a free - a 3-day Bluegrass Festival in Golden Gate Park he named Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, gave as a gift to the people of San Francisco every year since 2001 and funded for over a decade going forward in his will.
